How to Create the Secret Bay Six-Star Experience at Home

Create your own moisturizing hand scrub.

Secret Bay’s Gommier Spa offers a deeply serene space to quiet the mind, relax the body and indulge in lavish, locally custom-blended oils and spa products. To recreate our spa-like haven within your own home, start with Secret Bay’s DIY three-ingredient moisturizing hand scrub made of hydrating virgin coconut oil, antioxidant-dense wild honey and exfoliating brown sugar. Recommended amounts: 2 teaspoons of virgin coconut oil, 2 teaspoons of wild honey and 3 teaspoons of brown sugar. Mix thoroughly, massage into hands and wash off with water for a soothing skin refresh. Noreen, Spa Therapist at Secret Bay, shows us how it’s done. 

Brew a cup of Caribbean cocoa tea.

A Secret Bay specialty, cocoa tea consists of brewed local cocoa, fresh cinnamon bark, and bay leaves. Recommended amounts: 1 medium cocoa stick or ball, grated; 1 cinnamon stick; 2 bay leaves. Boil the ingredients in two cups of water until the cocoa dissolves, then stir in one cup of milk (plus sugar, to taste) and enjoy. You can find cocoa sticks or balls at some specialty markets, on Amazon or substitute two squares of unsweetened dark chocolate in a pinch. If nature is accessible to you, we recommend sipping on the cocoa tea outside.

Maybe it’s an eco-friendly comforter designed for those who get hot while they sleep or a pillow ideal for side sleepers. And if you’re already set with the right essentials, consider add-ons to promote better sleep, like a weighted eye mask, essential oil diffuser or sound machine.

Recreate Secret Bay’s Ceviche.

At this time, you might be spending more time in your kitchen than usual. It’s a great time to test out new recipes—and Executive Chef Grant has just the one for you to try: our Zing Zing Restaurant’s famed Ceviche. Ingredients you’ll need include: Your choice of white fish (we use local lionfish), cucumber, cherry tomatoes, watermelon radish, a spicy green such as wild rocket or mizuna (we use fresh moringa), vinegar, citrus zest, red onion and your choice of unsweetened nuts (we use pumpkin seeds).
