Secret Bay’s Gregor Nassief Offers an Inside Look into the Newly Released Residences at Secret Bay
Since its opening nearly eight years ago, Secret Bay has been praised for its artful fusion of high design and local craftsmanship, earning a reputation for authentic guest experiences custom-curated to personal preference. Now, Secret Bay brings this unparalleled hospitality and global-acclaim to The Residences at Secret Bay—a limited collection of 42 eco-luxury, fully-appointed villas and villa estates across 33 acres, secluded within the gated confines of Secret Bay.
Expanding beyond the resort’s existing award-winning villas, The Residences at Secret Bay provide an extension of the celebrated architecture, discreet service and privacy, capturing the luxury of time and space that vacation home buyers crave. We sat down with owner and proprietor Gregor Nassief to get an inside look into The Residences and learn more about the incredible investment opportunity that each of the 42 residences affords.
Can you tell us a bit about the Villas and Villa Estates themselves?
The Residences at Secret Bay are an organic extension of our existing operating resort with no compromise on what guests love about Secret Bay: privacy, discreet and personalised service, immersion in the natural environment and spectacular ocean and forest views. Like our existing villas, the new Villas and Villa Estates embrace casual coastal elegance with stately modern amenities, generous floor plans with large windows and bi-folding doors for indoor/outdoor living, fully-appointed gourmet kitchens, tropical hardwoods, private plunge pools and outdoor showers, as well as hammocks and daybeds.
The Residences will range in size from over 1,300 square feet to over 5,100 square feet with lot sizes up to 30,000+ square feet. Meticulously crafted by hand, they will include four turn-key floor plans: Zabuco, Ti-Fey, Ylang Ylang and Ylang Ylang Residence, three of which exist at Secret Bay today. Each structure is the embodiment of ethical luxury, offering exceptional comfort and tropical modern design while staying true to our foundational values rooted in sustainability.
Who do you think is the perfect buyer?
I would describe the perfect buyer as someone seeking an off-the-beaten-path coastal escape to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with themselves, with those they love and with nature. The Residences are ideal for people seeking to make a virtually unknown destination like Dominica their second home, complete with boundless adventure, and to revel in an unspoilt location like Secret Bay with three swimmable beaches, a river, a sea cave and two micro climates.
The perfect buyers are couples and families who relish privacy and seclusion but enjoy mingling with similar souls and who would take advantage of our world-class amenities, including the Gommier Spa, Zing Zing Restaurant and Bwa Mang Wellness Pavilion. In short, we see the quintessential buyers as independent minds and special souls looking to discover and share our well-kept secret.
What distinct investment opportunity do The Residences at Secret Bay present?
The Residences at Secret Bay offer a rare opportunity to own a residential-style villa in an emerging destination managed and marketed by one of the world’s most acclaimed luxury boutique resorts, with demonstrated rental demand and occupancy performance. And as a project approved by the Government of Dominica to offer qualifying investments for economic citizenship, The Residences at Secret Bay further provide owners with the option to invest in future mobility and security. Also, interested buyers can book a two-night Residences Discovery Visit to experience the ownership opportunity first-hand, including a welcome dinner, roundtrip airport transfers and an optional Waitukubuli by Sea tour to discover the island by boat.
What privileges do owners have at the resort? What’s in the pipeline?
Owners gain privileged access to the resort’s incomparable five-star services and amenities like the open-air Zing Zing Restaurant, treehouse couple’s Gommier Spa and riverside Bwa Mang Wellness Pavilion, along with dedicated villa attendant and concierge service, among others. Additional benefits include: high-speed Wi-Fi, access to Secret Bay’s high-performing property rental program, management and upkeep of the property, and commitment to leveraging the network to facilitate resale. We are also adding some new and exciting amenities such as a funicular, art barn with a curated art collection, fitness center and infinity lap pool immersed in nature. But, like our villas, they won’t look or feel like a typical resort. Stay tuned for more information soon.
Will the growth of the resort impact the land in any way?
The Residences at Secret Bay are designed to complement the land—not compromise it. The assemblage of new property, along with the construction of the new villas and access to a third beach, will make Secret Bay’s density lower than what it is now—decreasing from 9 percent to under 7 percent. With this added space, Secret Bay will feel more private and intimate than ever.
At the signing ceremony with the Government, Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit commented that Secret Bay could be “one of the best, if not the best, resort in the Western Hemisphere.” Does this change your long-term vision for Secret Bay?
It’s not something we had ever expressed or articulated, so it was incredibly moving and inspirational to hear the Prime Minister say that. These sentiments, along with the many accolades we have received, keep us very motivated—but, in the end, it’s the connection that our guests make with our property and our wonderful team of people that gives us real joy.
I’m a high-net-worth individual with two or three vacation homes in different parts of the world. Why should I invest in a residence at Secret Bay?
The Residences at Secret Bay is your first step towards realizing a return on life—both literally and figuratively. Financially, emotionally and spiritually, there is no other real estate offering that can compare. And, well, maybe that’s because there’s no other place in the world quite like Secret Bay.
