Can you tell us a bit about the Villas and Villa Estates themselves?

Like our existing villas, the new Villas and Villa Estates embrace casual coastal elegance with stately modern amenities, generous floor plans with large windows and bi-folding doors for indoor/outdoor living, fully-appointed gourmet kitchens, tropical hardwoods, private plunge pools and outdoor showers, as well as hammocks and daybeds.

The Residences will range in size from over 1,300 square feet to over 5,100 square feet with lot sizes up to 30,000+ square feet. Meticulously crafted by hand, they will include four turn-key floor plans: Zabuco, Ti-Fey, Ylang Ylang and Ylang Ylang Residence, three of which exist at Secret Bay today. Will the growth of the resort impact the land in any way?

The Residences at Secret Bay are designed to complement the land—not compromise it. The assemblage of new property, along with the construction of the new villas and access to a third beach, will make Secret Bay’s density lower than what it is now—decreasing from 9 percent to under 7 percent. With this added space, Secret Bay will feel more private and intimate than ever.

At the signing ceremony with the Government, Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit commented that Secret Bay could be “one of the best, if not the best, resort in the Western Hemisphere.” Does this change your long-term vision for Secret Bay?

It’s not something we had ever expressed or articulated, so it was incredibly moving and inspirational to hear the Prime Minister say that. These sentiments, along with the many accolades we have received, keep us very motivated—but, in the end, it’s the connection that our guests make with our property and our wonderful team of people that gives us real joy.
