Secret Bay is a Top Honeymoon Destination Space

SECRET BAY DOMINICA SELECTED AS TOP HONEYMOON DESTINATION

Dominica, September 27th 2012.

Secret Bay has been featured by America’s leading wedding brand as Top Honeymoon Destination
one of the 50 best places for honeymoons around the world. The Dominica luxury ecolodge was singled out by The Knot in the October issue of its magazine and online as a top honeymoon destination. Selecting the Caribbean retreat in its top 10 destinations for adventurous honeymoons it wrote: “The 180-degree views over mountain peaks and the sea from the Zabuco Honeymoon Villa at eco-luxe resort Secret Bay will make you feel like you’re floating”.

Vogue also has fallen under the spell of its sustainable luxury villas. This February the magazine chose the exclusive getaway as one of five Valentine Escapes, stating simply: “For romance, it doesn’t get much better.” And with Martha Stewart Weddings picking Secret Bay as one of four “hot new hotels” for honeymoons, ever more of the leading publications are discovering how ideal this five star beach hideaway is for romance. Condé Nast Brides and Wedding Ideas have also featured the new eco-luxe resort, the latter saying that Secret Bay is “a dream hideaway for couples that want a secluded break for the first time as husband and wife”.

It’s not just the magazine and websites either. Already 80 per cent of the luxury eco-resort’s guests come to celebrate their honeymoons or other anniversaries, and many of them take advantage of its bespoke honeymoon and anniversary package. This includes a welcome candlelit dinner, a tropical Flower Bath, an evening of wine and jazz on your private deck and a romantic excursion to one of Dominica’s many beautiful secluded spots, like a ride up the Indian River for an intimate picnic lunch basket with chilled sparkling wine. And when given the chance to comment, 59 out of 62 couples writing about Secret Bay on Tripadvisor gave it the maximum rating describing it as “the honeymoon of our dreams” and “a little piece of heaven”.

About Secret Bay:

Situated on a cliff-top promontory overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Secret Bay is unique in its diversity: two secluded swimming beaches, a spectacular sea-cave; the magical Cario River and two distinct micro-climates. The secluded villas and bungalows were conceptualized by award-winning Latin American architect Fruto Vivas, to maximise the natural beauty of Secret Bay and to minimise the impact on this pristine environment. In 2012 it was selected as one of the top 50 new hotels in the world for the prestigious Travel + Leisure It List, the first hotel in Dominica ever to make the list.

About The Knot:

TheKnot.com is the Internet’s most-trafficked one-stop wedding planning solution with 4.5 million unique visitors every month. Founded in 1996 it reaches millions of engaged couples each year through its award-winning website, books, magazines, and broadcast offerings.

About Dominica:

In a region saturated by tourism, Dominica remains one of the hidden gems of the Caribbean. Dubbed the “Nature Island” due to its abundance of natural splendours: 365 rivers, the second largest boiling lake in the world, volcanoes, mountains, waterfalls, hot springs, and black and white sand beaches. Much of the island is protected under national parks, one of which has been given UNESCO World Heritage status. Dominica is a paradise for divers, hikers, birdwatchers and nature-lovers. Despite being one of the largest islands in the Caribbean (754 sq. km) it is one of the least populated (72,660) (twice the size of Barbados, it only has one fifth of its population). It is also one of the few islands to have retained some of its pre-Colombian population.
