THE ULTIMATE ECO-LUXURY HIDEAWAY LAUNCHES RESIDENCES PROGRAM IN RESPONSE TO GUEST DEMAND

Secret Bay, Dominica – June 19, 2012 – Just a year after its June 2011 debut, Secret Bay resort has received such high accolades from guests that it has decided to give them a special anniversary present – the opportunity to keep a part of this secret for themselves through the launch of the property’s highly anticipated Residences Program.

Guests who have fallen in love with Secret Bay’s unconventional concepts and individualized yet inconspicuous service can now purchase whole or fractional shares of a limited number of the property’s villas and bungalows.  These exquisite villas and bungalows will be built across the 4-acre site by hand and without heavy machinery in keeping with its trademark sustainable style, thereby continuing its commitment to the environment while simultaneously ensuring that the guest experience remains tranquil and in harmony with nature in every aspect.  As with the existing villas and bungalows, these new accommodations will offer all the personalized service and signature amenities that create the exclusive, unrivalled vacation experience for which Secret Bay is becoming known.  From a dedicated personal cook and attendant to extensive concierge services and even one-man jazz concerts in the privacy of a guest’s home away from home, Secret Bay takes care to imbue every guest stay with an unparalleled level of customization delivered with impeccable service.

Over the past twelve months, Secret Bay has not only earned abundant praise from guests but it has received outstanding reviews from multiple respected authorities on travel.  In addition to receiving a prestigious 2012 Certificate of Excellence Award from TripAdvisor, it has recently become the first property in Dominica to be named to the highly-regarded “It List 2012” by Travel + Leisure.  Only 50 hotels were chosen from over 3,000 around the world, and of the 50, Secret Bay was one of just five presented by Travel + Leisure on the NBC Today Show to represent its “It List 2012”.  Secret Bay has also won the impressive Development of the Year 2011 recognition at the Caribbean Hotel and Resort Investment Summit and has been featured in such top publications as Vogue, Martha Stewart Living, The New York Times, National Geographic Traveler and MACO Caribbean Living.

About Secret Bay:

Secret Bay offers the opportunity to experience luxury in an undisturbed and unspoilt environment. Set on approximately 4 acres of land and situated on a cliff-top overlooking the Caribbean Sea, it is unique in its diversity: two swimming beaches, the Cario River, a sea cave and two distinct micro-climates. The property’s four secluded villas and bungalows are nestled serenely within the canopy of Dominica’s lush rainforest, offering exceptional comforts alongside the simplicity of nature.  These distinctive accommodations encompass a spacious 2,728 square feet and are designed to bring the outdoors in.  The one-and two-bedroom villas feature indoor/outdoor living rooms, bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, outdoor showers, a private pool or Jacuzzi and an expansive verandah with panoramic views over the Caribbean Sea.   The two-story bungalows stretch over 610 square feet of space and share many attributes of the villas in a more intimate setting.  Often referred to as “luxurious tree houses,” they are perched up amongst the trees with floor-to-ceiling glass windows on both levels that reveal magnificent ocean views and allow natural light to gently permeate the interior.

Located on the northwest coast of Dominica, this boutique eco-luxury development is just a ten-minute drive to the quaint town of Portsmouth and a one-hour’s drive to the capital Roseau. The secluded villas and bungalows were conceptualized by award-winning Latin American architect Fruto Vivas, to maximize the natural beauty of Secret Bay and to minimize the impact on this pristine environment.

Secret Bay is a sustainable development – from the sourcing of the materials, the building methods, water and energy efficiency, to an ongoing commitment to the protection of the precious land.  Secret Bay also supports the local community through employment, the development of small-scale tourism in the area and setting up a Community Development Fund.

About Dominica:

TUESDAY 19 JUNE 2012

In a region saturated by tourism, Dominica remains one of the hidden gems of the Caribbean. It is dubbed the “Nature Island” due to its abundance of natural splendours: 365 rivers, the second largest boiling lake in the world, a lush rainforest, volcanoes, mountains, waterfalls, hot springs, and black and white sand beaches. Much of the island is protected under national parks, one of which has been given UNESCO World Heritage status. Dominica is a paradise for divers, hikers, birdwatchers and nature-lovers.

Despite being one of the largest islands in the Caribbean (754 sq. km), it is one of the least populated (72,660) – at twice the size of Barbados, it only has one fifth of its population. It is also one of the few islands to have retained some of its pre-Colombian population.
