Indulging in Refined Simplicity on a Dream Caribbean Honeymoon

The biggest compliment we can receive is for someone to recommend us to their friends. We love it when a guest arrives and tells us that they are here because someone they know, love and trust has told them they just had to come experience Secret Bay.

When it comes to recommendations, Stephen and Laya are without rival.

They first came for their honeymoon back in 2011, an experience they told us was “like something out of a romance novel.” Since then, not only did they return just a year and a half later to celebrate their babymoon. So have some of their friends. In fact, more than 10 of their friends have come to stay with us on their honeymoons.

So what did Stephen and Laya love so much that caused Secret Bay to become a de facto honeymoon escape for a whole group of friends? They told us that it was the rainbows over the ocean, the sound of the waves on the shore as they turned in for the night, and the colors of the sky at every sunset. “Most of all though,” said Stephen, “It was like we were the only ones there enjoying paradise and it was all for us.”

While a private view of perfect sunsets and waves lapping beneath are enough for many honeymooners, Stephen and Laya also made the most of our nature island during their time at Secret Bay. They hiked to waterfalls and mountain tops, kayaked to nearby beaches for snorkeling, relaxed in the hammocks, and grilled steaks in the evening on their deck as the sun went down.

When we got in touch with them last month to ask what their favourite memories were, Stephen told us that vacations are often too complex. On the other hand, he said, what’s unique about Secret Bay is that it’s all about “indulging in refined simplicity”. We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.

“What is special about Secret Bay,” Stephen added, “is that it has perfected the simple.”
