First Secret Bay Stay Brings A Family Together

Five years ago this month we were preparing our grounds and facilities, anxiously awaiting the realization of our dream of welcoming guests into our paradise. We weren’t slated to open for another month when we received an inquiry.

Stephani and Scott had flown from the US to Dominica to visit their son, who was studying at the nearby Ross University School of Medicine. As they were making such a memorable visit, they wanted somewhere equally as memorable to house them during their stay. “We searched on the Internet and came up with Secret Bay. It looked so beautiful and serene,” Stephani told us recently.

Upon their inquiry, after years of dreaming and months of planning the opening of Secret Bay, we were incredibly excited at the chance to welcome our first guests—the people who could make that dream real. We got back to Stephani and Scott and told them, so long as they could put up with some “hitches” during their stay, they were most welcome to be Secret Bay’s first guests. “We jumped at the chance,” Stephani told us. “We are really glad we did.”

After five years of developing a luxurious resort experience, we’ve got our program down to a science, but for our first guests, we were nervous. Stephani and Scott stayed in one of our ocean view bungalows, swimming in the cove below, sharing a cocktail on the balcony, and exploring the sites around a rainforest island that we recommended they visit. They adored our brand new, nearly finished, luxury accommodation. And right from the beginning, it was clear that by creating our unique take on hospitality—with no communal areas, no reception, no restaurant or bar, but rather everything done just for our guests in their private accommodation—we had hit on something special.

When we asked Stephani what was most memorable about her stay, she told us that Secret Bay was her “home away from home.” Mission accomplished. Five years later and we are still beyond grateful to welcome guests into our secret paradise, serving each with a unique and unbeatable resort experience.
