Featured Staff: Deslyne Shares What She Loves About Working at Secret Bay

To celebrate Deslyn being with us for a year, we asked her a few questions about what it means to work here. We think her answers (especially number 3) epitomise why our staff are the heart of Secret Bay.

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT SECRET BAY?

I am one of the many faces of Secret Bay, my job title is Villa Attendant and I consider myself a Secret Bay Ambassador. I cater to the guest’s daily needs by ensuring their villas are clean, serving meals and sometimes preparing meals. In short making sure they have a magical time.

WHAT’S THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB?

My favorite part is meeting guests for the first time and the smile or tears of joy from the guest after I have created a magical moment for them such as decorating their bed or setting up a romantic dinner under the stars.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY OF SECRET BAY?

One thing that stands out: a large family was staying at Secret Bay and the mom mentioned to me she was feeling sad to return home but most of all she was down because she had to wash the children’s clothes when she returned home and had to get them ready to return to school and organize herself for work. While they were out swimming I washed and folded all their clothes, packed their bags and ironed their outfits for travel. Upon the family’s return the mom kissed and hugged me and even started to cry as I gave her some extra time to enjoy Secret Bay and not worry about packing. This made me feel so proud to know that my little act brought such joy to someone.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SPECIAL PLACE IN DOMINICA?

Escape Bar is my favorite place to chill and relax, as it allows me the comfort to hang out with my friends while enjoying some drinks and food. But what I enjoy most is the wonderful service from the bartenders and the waitresses.
