Where to Find Dominica’s Healing Thermal Waters

1. Ti Kwen Glo Cho

Location: Wotten Waven
Distance from Secret Bay: ~1 hour 15 minutes by car

Tucked in the mountain village of Wotten Waven, Ti Kwen Glo Cho, Creole for “Little Corner of Hot Water”,  is a rustic sanctuary built around natural sulfur springs. Wander through a tropical garden before easing into stone pools filled with mineral-rich water said to help with circulation and skin health. Cold showers sourced from a nearby spring offer the perfect contrast therapy.

How to Get There: A private driver or guided tour can be arranged through Secret Bay, winding inland through rainforest roads with scenic stops along the way.

2. Screws Sulphur Spa

Location: Wotten Waven
Distance from Secret Bay: ~1 hour 15 minutes by car

Just minutes from Ti Kwen Glo Cho, Screws offers an immersive sulphur spring experience with multiple pools of varying temperatures cascading through the valley. Created by local legend “Screw,” this spa is equal parts eccentric and therapeutic, with waterfalls, sulfur mud, and natural and manmade ambiance unlike anywhere else.

How to Get There: Combine with a visit to nearby waterfalls or plan a dedicated wellness day from Secret Bay. Transportation can be arranged with your dedicated concierge.

3. Trafalgar Falls

Location: Trafalgar
Distance from Secret Bay: ~1 hour 15 minutes by car

Located at the base of one of Dominica’s most iconic natural attractions are warm, mineral-rich pools formed by geothermal activity and natural hot springs emerging between the boulders just upstream from Trafalgar Falls. The gentle current and therapeutic warmth create a natural hydrotherapy experience.

How to Get There: Plan a day trip with a hike to Trafalgar Falls followed by a rejuvenating soak. Pack water shoes and let Secret Bay prepare a picnic to go.

4. Boiling Lake

Location: Morne Trois Pitons National Park
Distance from Secret Bay: ~2 hours by car, plus a 6-hour hike roundtrip

Not a thermal spa in the traditional sense, Dominica’s Boiling Lake is one of the world’s largest of its kind – a volcanic crater lake that bubbles and steams with an otherworldly intensity. Reaching it requires a hike, but the journey is peppered with hot streams, sulfur vents, and warm-water bathing spots. It’s a pilgrimage for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

How to Get There: Only with an experienced local guide. Secret Bay can arrange all logistics, including early morning departure, permits, and post-hike recovery amenities.

Return to Secret Bay for a Dinner in Nature

After a day immersed in Dominica’s geothermal wonders, return to your private villa at Secret Bay and let your body fully unwind. Enjoy a curated dining experience in the Chef’s Garden, a farm-to-table dinner surrounded by edible plants, fragrant herbs, and the rainforest. It’s the perfect way to close a day of elemental connection, nourishing your body and soul with the bounty of the island.
