Secret Bay is Dominica’s First Green Globe Certified Property
As we continuously and consciously work to implement sustainable practices amid a country recognized globally for its green efforts, Secret Bay is thrilled to share that it has achieved Green Globe Certification—one of the highest standards for sustainability worldwide. The first development on Dominica to hold the accolade, Secret Bay was recognised for its innovative guest experience that is designed to inconspicuously bring the island’s sustainability efforts to life.
Secret Bay’s Green Experience
Secret Bay exists at the intersection of luxury and sustainability, seamlessly folding green efforts into the resident experience. Upon arrival, each owner is greeted with locally-made snacks in plastic-free, biodegradable packaging and welcomed to the resort with a paperless check-in and villa orientation. From then on, whether it be by dining at Secret Bay’s innovative no-menu and hyper-local Zing Zing Restaurant, where seasonal dishes are accentuated with wild herbs, fruits and edible flowers growing naturally on-site, or skipping single-use plastics—which are eliminated entirely from our property—and using a handy reusable bottle and in-villa water filtration system to fill up, residents effortlessly encounter and engage with our sustainability practices throughout their stay.
A Holistic Approach to Sustainability
Beyond gourmet kitchens pre-stocked with fresh, local produce and baths equipped with mindfully-sourced, bio-safe products, Secret Bay’s luxury residences are sustainably-crafted. Here, residents delight in knowing that our villas are meticulously cited to avoid clearing of mature trees, constructed without the use of heavy machinery, built entirely of sustainably-sourced Guyanese hardwood and outfitted with locally-crafted furniture composed of Red Cedar.
An Even Greener Future
Moving forward, Secret Bay will continue to build and operate in accordance with Green Globe standards, as we understand that everything—from where we source building materials to the training resources we provide our management and staff—has the power to contribute to a better, more sustainable world.
