A Secret Worth Sharing: Secret Bay Featured in MDescapes

At Secret Bay, we often say that true luxury is not about excess — it’s about connection. A connection to nature, to oneself, and to something greater. That’s why we’re thrilled to share our recent feature in MD Escapes, a lifestyle publication from Physicians Office Resource dedicated to helping medical professionals unwind, recharge, and take care of themselves.

In her feature story “Psst…I’ve Got a Secret”, Senior Travel Editor Brandi Brower, who visited Secret Bay to experience the sales launch of our new Waterfront Villas, captures the magic of her journey and first encounter with Dominica, from her first glimpse from the plane: volcanic peaks and rainforest canopy rising up like a scene out of Jurassic Park. That sense of awe carried through her entire stay, from kayaking into hidden coves to swimming beneath waterfalls and retreating to her villa — which she described as an “adult treehouse,” complete with plunge pool, terrace, and breathtaking sea views. With only the rainforest as her witness, she even admitted to skinny-dipping daily in her private pool, a reminder of the total seclusion Secret Bay offers.

What struck Brandi most wasn’t just the beauty of Secret Bay, but the authenticity of the people who bring it to life. A guide leading her through a bat cave, a server easing a sudden cramp with care, a villa host anticipating every detail — it was, as she wrote, “the sincerity, authenticity, and kindness of the service” that made the experience extraordinary.

She also highlighted the vision behind Secret Bay. Founder Gregor Nassief fell in love with this land as a boy, spending decades bringing his dream to life with his wife, artist Sandra Vivas, and Sandra’s father, renowned architect Fruto Vivas. Their ethos of “architenderness” — creating spaces that connect humans to nature — continues to guide Secret Bay today. Across 50 acres, just 23 villas are intentionally placed to preserve both privacy and panorama, embodying intimacy, sustainability, and low-density design.

For medical professionals, Brandi’s story is a reminder of why this place resonates so deeply. After lives spent caring for others, here is a sanctuary where the caretakers can be cared for: private clifftop villas, island-to-table dining, restorative spa rituals, and a true immersion in nature. As Dominica’s Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, shared during her visit, this island isn’t chasing mass tourism — it is cultivating luxury rooted in nature, culture, and community.

In closing her feature, Brandi wrote: “There are so few surprises in life. But this island, this Secret Bay Resort, has been a memorable one. A secret reset, a place where few know, but those who do, cherish it. Psst…I’ve got a secret. Pass it on.”
