3 Ways to Celebrate Earth Day At Secret Bay

Our boutique resort has been magnificently designed in harmony with the environment, so you can experience full immersion within the Nature Island. This Earth Day we are sharing our top 3 activities that allow you to taste, see and touch the beautiful land that makes up Dominica. From dining at our six-star Zing Zing restaurant tasting locally foraged ingredients to discovering new heights climbing to some of the world’s most beautiful waterfalls to helping support the Caribbean marine life by planting new coral, Secret Bay is here to show you the true beauty the island has to offer.

1. Earth to Table Chef’s Dinner

We are celebrating Earth Day at Secret Bay with a 4-course, “Earth to Table” Chef menu focusing on vegan dishes and local foraging. Dine tucked into the lush rainforest while enjoying a plant-based menu offering the flavors of the island including cinnamon garden pineapple, Jerk paella, summer-fresh vegetables, and Pointe-Baptiste’s dark chocolate temptation with chocolate ganache.

2. Hike One of Dominica’s Famous Waterfalls

With the abundance of rivers and waterfalls in Dominica, there is no better way to spend Earth Day than marveling at these hidden wonders. A few of our favorite waterfall hikes include Emerald Pool, known for its characteristic emerald hue, the twin waterfalls at Trafalgar Falls, known for its natural swimming pool, and Dominica’s tallest, Middleham Falls, known for its lush rainforest hike that brings you to a viewing platform and waterfall pool.

3. Help Restore a Coral Reef

Secret Bay’s Coral Restoration Project is focused on the regeneration of impaired coral through the implementation of a coral nursery. Guests of Secret Bay have the unique opportunity to not only learn about this coral restoration but also be part of the planting of the coral itself. Venture out to the designated coral nursery site, examine the coral, and transplant a new coral into the nursery. You will leave with a new understanding of Caribbean marine life and even receive an Electronic Birth Certificate, with the option to receive updates on your coral’s progression.
