Spot Whales from the Privacy of Your Own Villa

Dominica is rightly famous the world over for the whales that live in and migrate to our waters throughout the year. And we have some great partners who can take any of our guests off to see them by boat. But starting this fall we’re adding another way of checking out our friendly cetacean neighbours – without leaving the property.

From the privacy of three of our villas or out on the Sunset Deck, guests can now use one of our mobile or static telescopes to scan the waters of Oyohayo Bay, looking for whales, dolphins, and turtles swimming by.  It has been observed that over generations, the Oyohayo bay has become a well-known spot for these animals to mate, nurse, calf or lay their eggs on the coast.

And during the winter months (January 15-April 15), the Humpback and Sperm whale can occasionally be seen from shore, as they take dives accompanied by their young.
